The Copa del Rey 2019-20 is the 116th edition of the national competition of Spanish soccer. A total of 115 teams participate, including First and Second Division, Second Division B, and Third Division squads. The Federation Cup semifinalists and regional top division teams also take part. Initially, this competition was scheduled between November 2019 and April 2020. However, the worldwide expansion of the Covid-19 caused its suspension. Here we will show you a count of what's happened so far in Copa del Rey.
For the first tournament's round, the teams were matched through a draw. Outstanding results in this round were Real Sociedad's 0-8 win against C.D. Becerril and Leganés' 5-6 win on penalties against Andorra. Likewise, there were surprises such as the victory of the Third Division team Real Jaén over First Division team Alavés. The second round was played in a single match in early January 2020. This stage left us comfortable victories for Athletic Club, Sevilla, and Real Sociedad. In contrast, Levante had to work hard to beat Real Jaen in a match defined 4-5 on penalties.
In the round of 32, there were no longer wide-margin victories like those that occurred in previous stages. Favorite teams like Barcelona, Real Madrid, Sevilla, and Valencia won their respective matches. Meanwhile, other greats like Atlético de Madrid lost against Cultural Leonesa 2-1 in overtime. The round of 16 brought Sevilla's fall against Mirandés as the only surprise. The rest of the First Division teams advanced to the next stage.
The quarterfinal phase held surprises. All betting favorites fell in their respective matches. Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Valencia fell against inferior squads in theory. Also, Villarreal fell against a Mirandés who continued his surprising advance.
The semifinal matches were defined by draw and played in round trip matches. Granada, with a last-minute penalty goal from Roberto Soldado, defeated the reigning champion, Valencia. Granada thus reached the semifinal of the Copa del Rey for the first time in the last 51 years. But, his hopes of playing the final were dashed despite winning the second leg at home by 2-1.
Granada dominated the game showing a good football level but could not keep their goal at zero at home. When the second leg was almost over, Athletic took advantage of Granada's defensive neglect to score the goal that made the difference. Meanwhile, Real Sociedad left Mirandés out of competition in two highly contested matches.
The second leg was defined with a score of 0-1 with a penalty goal. It passed 32 years since the last season the Real Sociedad disputed a Copa del Rey final. This way, for the first time, two Basque Country teams will play the Copa del Rey final; Real Sociedad and Athletic Bilbao. We can only wait until the resumption of Spanish football. This will allow us to enjoy the grand finale of the 2019-2020 Copa del Rey. A competition followed by fans from all over the world.
We're concerned about problem gambling. For most people, gambling is entertainment - a fun activity that can be enjoyed without harmful effect. But for some, it's not just a game - it's a serious problem that continues even after the fun has gone.
Compulsive gambling is not easily detected. The person with a gambling problem will often go to great lengths to cover up the problem and will appear to look all right, regardless of the consequences of their gambling.
Warning Signs. Some of the indicators that a person may be suffering from a gambling problem include:
Losing time from work or family due to gambling.
Repeated failed attempts to stop or control gambling.
Borrowing money to gamble or pay gambling debts.
Gambling to escape worry or trouble.
Neglecting the care of one's self or family in order to gamble.
Lying about the amount of time and money spent on gambling.
Gambling more money in an attempt to win back losses.
Selling or pawning personal possessions to get money to gamble.
Feelings of hopelessness, depression, or suicide as a result of gambling.
