What Can We Expect From The 2020/2021 Serie A Season?

Juventus dominated Italian soccer first division during the last decade. Yet, Inter Milan and Atalanta intend to fight for the title in this new campaign. Andrea Pirlo will debut as a coach with Ronaldo and Dybala's Juve. His main objective in the transfer market was to strengthen the midfield with creative and young players. So, they brought Brazilian Arthur from Barcelona. But, this meant giving in return a great midfielder like Pjanic. Besides, Pirlo let go of other veterans like Higuain, Matuidi, and Khedira. For its part, Inter wants to end Juventus' hegemony. In this sense, they got midfielder Hakimi and left-back Kolarov to support Martínez and Lukaku. On the other hand, despite the crisis between Antonio Conte and the club's board, the Italian coach will continue to command.

Atalanta is one of the most improved clubs in recent years. Gasperini's men must maintain their scoring ability through their fast passing game and improve their defense. Zapata, Muriel, Gómez, and Ilicic will continue being Atalanta's attack protagonists. Moreover, they will now have the midfielder Pasalic's support bought from Chelsea. In theory, Naples, Lazio, Roma, and Milan start from a lower level than the teams mentioned above. Napoli will seek to return to Champions League positions. For this, they must score more goals. In this sense, they acquired newcomer Nigerian forward Osimhen, who will join Insigne, Mertens, and Milik.

Lazio must retake the form it had before the suspension by Covid-19's spread. Also, this team needs to find an additional offensive option to Immobile. Meanwhile, Roma hopes that their young talent will show their quality to reach even higher positions in the standings. Milan aspires to continue improving compared to previous years. They will count on the great goalkeeper Donnarumma and Ibrahimovic in the attack. The young promise Sandro Tonali loaned from Brescia will reinforce the midfield. Teams like Fiorentina, Sassuolo, and Hellas Verona could have a very competitive season. However, the majority of their victories would be against the bottom-half table's teams.

Additionally, clubs like Parma, Cagliari, Bologna, Torino, Udinese, Sampdoria, and Genoa have many aspects of improving. In these squads, players like Gervinho, Nandez, Orsolini, Belotti, Lasagna, and Perin are expected to stand out. Regarding the newly promoted, Benevento, Crotone, and Spezia will fight to stay in Serie A. Their points would come from having good defenses and playing well at home against middle and bottom's table parts teams.
