Once again, the MLS begins a new season. Since February 26, the professional soccer league that brings together the best United States and Canada teams has been back for its 27th edition. The 28 participating teams will seek the championship of one league that grows inside and outside the American continent. Besides, it already has a strong fan base in Europe. Many surprises occurred during the last season. Some of them were good, while others were not so much. But, it was an uneven season for the big favorites, and a young team, York City FC, won the championship without anyone expecting it.
New York City FC (which only debuted in the MLS in 2015) overcame every conceivable obstacle to keep going throughout the season. They battled against all odds to win the championship and leave West Coast teams in a terrible light. That was the great disappointment of last season: the Los Angeles teams, LA Galaxy (where 'Chicharito' Hernández plays), and LAFC, led by Carlos Vela, could do nothing against the surprising New York City FC. But, the 2021 season ended, and the new season has started spectacularly. In this sense, a debutant team, Charlotte FC, set an attendance record in its first league match (74,479) despite being defeated by the LA Galaxy 0-1. This is the largest number of attendees at an MLS game in its entire history. But the important thing is that the 2022 season has already started, and all the teams are already in action.
The eyes of the experts are once again focused on the Seattle Sounders, the team that Brian Schmetzer coaches. There are plenty of reasons for that, and Seattle has been the most consistent team in the last six years, always occupying places in the playoffs and winning two championships. It is a team accustomed to big commitments, and this season they have all their players in top form. Last season, they were stalking the chances of winning the championship. However, New York City emerged as an unexpected wild card. Now, Seattle will go for it all.
Also, the Portland Timbers are another consistent team that came close to winning the championship last season. Portland is a team that never gives up and has an excellent offensive-defensive balance. After Seattle, it is one of the teams with the greatest possibilities. They should be fighting at the top of the leaderboard during the whole season. Likewise, you can't lose sight of the New England Revolution, who are eager to return to winning ways.
Similarly, LAFC will improve their performance from last season, as will perennial favorites LA Galaxy. But while we have mentioned the best-performing teams in recent years, we must not make the same mistake as last year and underestimate New York City FC. If they have already achieved it once, why could not they repeat the miracle this season? Everything is just beginning, and the season promises a great battle between the most traditional teams and those who dare to challenge them.
We're concerned about problem gambling. For most people, gambling is entertainment - a fun activity that can be enjoyed without harmful effect. But for some, it's not just a game - it's a serious problem that continues even after the fun has gone.
Compulsive gambling is not easily detected. The person with a gambling problem will often go to great lengths to cover up the problem and will appear to look all right, regardless of the consequences of their gambling.
Warning Signs. Some of the indicators that a person may be suffering from a gambling problem include:
Losing time from work or family due to gambling.
Repeated failed attempts to stop or control gambling.
Borrowing money to gamble or pay gambling debts.
Gambling to escape worry or trouble.
Neglecting the care of one's self or family in order to gamble.
Lying about the amount of time and money spent on gambling.
Gambling more money in an attempt to win back losses.
Selling or pawning personal possessions to get money to gamble.
Feelings of hopelessness, depression, or suicide as a result of gambling.
